Optimism

Nepali people have always been open for the change. The recently held elections in the country prove exactly that. We have had political instability for most of our history. Being a small country, Nepal's internal politics is often heavily influenced by India, which is on it's way to become the superpower. Nepali people have given their fresh mandate to Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), being fed up from old political parties. RSP has obtained almost 2/3rd of the seats in the House of Representatives, which is lower house of Nepal's parliament.

The landslide of votes is not just the mark of 'voice for the change' but it's also the reminder for the old political parties that voters possess the actual power in the democracy. People are optimistic that RSP would effectively carry the voice of the general people in the parliament which they felt was due from older political parties which they had trusted at one point of time.

It's a huge challenge for RSP as well. Most of their MP's are very young and are not experienced with parliamentary process. At such, leadership of the party plays a major role in educating and professional development of the elected MP's. It's good thing that RSP has realized this challenge and effectively addressed it through organizing Professional Development session for their MP's.

On the other hand, RSP's stance on foreign relation isn't clear yet. They have hinted on having balanced foreign relation at on of their party campaigns but how would they practically carry out their policy is yet to be seen. In the current world, geopolitical dynamics is being changed very quickly. American war in Iran and Israel's ambition of conquest of 'Greater Israel' can be observed with naked eyes. At such, it's important that Nepal doesn't allow it's land being used for the interest of foreign countries. If right approach is not taken, war may arrive at our gardens at no time.

Let's hope for the better future.
